We are excited to announce that leader, Malik Moore will be back in August for his 2nd year at Columbus Preparatory Academy. Below you will find Mr. Moore’s bio, he is looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Malik has most recently served as a member of the Tailored Fit Consulting team as an education consultant leading their community engagement efforts. He is a founding member of the Russell Byers Charter School in Philadelphia where he also served as the school’s Assistant Principal
Malik is committed to effecting change and strengthening community in Columbus, Ohio, and throughout the world. Having spent 13 years as a YMCA Senior Leader and Executive Director, Malik is a founding member of the YMCA’s national team of social responsibility leaders. Malik is a committed student of Asset-Based Community Development and asset-mapping and he allots time to serve students in Columbus City Schools as a mentor and work-development coach. Malik also mentors nonprofit executives and YMCA professionals throughout the world.
Malik believes that through mentorship, coaching, and intentional relationship-building, communities can become more closely connected – even during today’s polarizing climate.
Malik is an experienced community leader and equity leader. He is an incoming member of the 2019 Class of Leadership, Ohio and he is also a graduate of two of Ohio’s citizen police academies. His professional highlights include over 20 years of leadership experience within the worlds of community organizing, nonprofit management and service to the YMCA.
As a YMCA volunteer, Malik has led ”Y work” on three continents, in six countries, in over 18 states and countless cities. During the last 15 years, he has worked for the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, and the YMCA of Central Ohio. Malik focuses on partnerships, community transformation, and facilitates courageous conversations around race and equity.
Malik is deeply invested in developing leaders and strengthening the community. He serves as an instructor with the YMCA of the USA’s Leadership and Career Development Team and he is the father of two sons, Khari (13) and Kaiden (5).
